How to Play

Goal: capture all opponent pieces or block all legal moves.

Setup

  • The board has 64 squares (8x8) alternating light and dark colors.
  • Each player starts with 12 pieces on dark squares in the three nearest rows.
  • White pieces move first.

Basic moves

Regular pieces:

  • Move diagonally one square forward.
  • Can only occupy dark squares.
  • Cannot move backward, except when capturing.

Captures:

  • If an enemy piece is on a diagonal and the next square is empty, you must jump to capture.
  • The captured piece is removed immediately.
  • Mandatory capture: if you can capture, you must do it.
  • Multiple captures: you must continue with the same piece if another capture exists.
  • Regular pieces may capture backward.

Promotion (King):

  • When a piece reaches the opposite row, it is promoted to king.
  • A king can move and capture in any diagonal direction.
  • A king may move multiple squares along one diagonal.
  • During multiple captures, it may change direction between jumps.
